Showing yourself on a Teams Screenshare

This is accomplished through a small application and utilizing the Teams Desktop sharing feature. This can only be done with a Windows laptop or desktop and outside of the provincial server.

The application can be found at the bottom of this article, right click it and choose Save Link As... . Save it to your Desktop.

When you are ready do the following to show yourself:

  1. Open any applications (Power Point, web browsers) and have them open to what you would like to display during the call/meeting.
  2. Since this utilizes sharing your entire desktop make sure any sensitive information is not showing in any open applications or on your desktop.
    • It may also be beneficial to hide your desktop icons by right clicking on an empty space on your desktop and choosing View > Show Desktop Icons. Do this again to get them to show once finished.
  3. Start the Webcam Viewer program.
  4. Select your webcam if not already selected
  5. Click on the Gear and slide Keep on Top to On
  6. Join your Teams Meeting/Call
  7. When you are choosing the item to Share, choose Desktop. If appropriate make sure you check off Include system Audio when sharing, this will be most commonly used if you are planning to show a youtube video during the call/meeting.
  8. When finished the meeting close the Webcam Viewer and unhide your desktop icons if you chose to hide them.
