Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
MFA authenticates your identity by requiring more than one verification method to gain access to secure resources at SaskAbilities.
There are three main types of authentication methods used by MFA:
- Things you know (knowledge), such as password or PIN
- Things you have (possession), such as a badge or smartphone
- Things you are (inherence), such as a biometric like fingerprints or facial recognition
When implemented we plan to require two verification methods to gain access. The first will be staff members existing username and password. After the settings are enabled, during their next login staff members can choose the second method from a list of displayed options:
- Mobile app (Microsoft Authenticator)
- Biometrics (Microsoft Authenticator or Windows Hello)
- Text message (Teams does not currently support text/sms messages)
- Phone call (do not use Teams office number as it also requires verification)
Now how do I use it?
We have compiled a few more tips for using your mobile device for MFA
