Windows Narrator PDF Reader
Windows Narrator reads the contents of the active window to you. It also enables keyboard navigation so that a mouse isn't necessary. PDFs also have the ability to be read from Edge or Adobe Reader.
Starting Narrator
- On the keyboard press the Windows Key+CTRL+Enter.
- You could also click the Start button and search for Narrator.
- If the computer is going to be used exclusively in Narrator mode you can turn it on permanently by going to the settings (Windows Key+CTRL+N) and select Start Narrator after sign in.
Using Narrator
- Once Narrator is open browse to the file you want read.
- Narrator seems to work better for webpages. Click where you want it to read and press CAPS LOCK+R.
- If you open a Word document you must press CAPS LOCK+R to read the document.
- Narrator can't read PDFs but they have their own ability to do this.
Reading PDFs
- When you open a Policy from the website in PDF it will open in a new tab.
- On the top middle of the PDF taskbar there is an icon with an A and waves coming off of it. If you click that it will read the document to you.
- If you open a document in Adobe Reader you have the option to have it read to you.
- Click View > Read Out Loud > Activate Read Out Load (or Shift+CTRL+L).
- Then click View > Read Out Loud > Read to End of Document (or Shift+CTRL+B).
