Troubleshooting a Plantronics Wireless Headset that is missing audio

There are more variables to be aware of when working with the wireless headsets. If there are too many problems, replacing the wireless headset with a wired one has improved the reliability. There is a loss of mobility, but there is much less that can go wrong.

  1. Make sure that the headset is charged.

    • When you put the headset on the charging station it should hold a solid green, instead of blinking, when it is fully charged.
    • If it does blink when plugged in, give it about 5 minutes on the charger and then try again.
      • The charging contacts on the headset and the charger are small so it needs to be placed precisely, so it may have been bumped after it was placed.
  2. Unplug the transceiver dongle from your computer and plug it back in.

    • The dongle is a black USB device that has a clear plastic line around it. It usually glows red or green and has a button on the end of it. It has Plantronics written on it.
    • After being plugged back in, the dongle should be show red to start and then turn to green. That means it has found your wireless headset correctly.
      • If the dongle is still showing red after following steps 1 and 2 please contact IT by clicking on the contact us tab above.
  3. Check your sounds settings to make sure it is as expected

    • Teams Defaults
    • System Defaults
      • You will have to right click and choose Test on the D100(-M) several times to get the test chime to work, this is due to the audio sensing on the wireless connection.
    • If you are unsure, please contact IT by clicking on the contact us tab above.
